The 'Yes and No' game
I'm borrowing the 'Yes and No' game from Smilin' Joe's fabulous blog.
Yes: I am a professional student. I love formal learning and simply can't get enough of it. It's now six years and counting of continuous study.
No: This doesn't mean I hate the idea of work. I've been in the workforce full-time before and I look forward to getting back there again for two reasons: shorter hours and more money. Many people think that if you have four contact hours per day the rest of the time is spent drinking, playing computer games and posting on Vox. I wish! In my undergraduate degree ten or twelve hours of homework per day was the norm on top of any classes. And that's when there's no major assignments due. If that's avoiding work then it's the workiest way I've ever come across to do it.
Yes: I have a vegan diet.
No: I am not going to try to convert you, nor am I going to lecture you about what you eat. To be honest, I really don't care. You could happily chow down on roadkill with a mustard dressing and I wouldn't bat an eyelid. Please afford me the same courtesy.
Yes: I am now engaged.
No: It has not magically cured me of my wedding-phobia. Even calling our upcoming event our 'registering' rather than our wedding hasn't stopped those bugs crawling up my spine.
Yes: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
No: Star Trek: Voyager
Yes: I can be argumentative, arrogant, pedantic and stubborn.
No: This is not improved by alcohol.
Yes: I am a born again non-smoker. I smoked a pack a day for nearly eight years then quit seven years ago. I'm happy to say that I haven't even felt like a cigarette for most of that seven years.
No: I am not going to lecture you on quitting smoking. I am not going to give advice on how to quit smoking. I am also not going to look down upon you if your latest effort to quit didn't go as planned. I tried quitting for years with no success then I was 'lucky' enough to get a severe lung infection that lasted for four months. It's hard to smoke when you're coughing up liquid. Until they offer viral pneumonia in a lozenge form I'm willing to bet my experience is not going to help anyone else quit, so I find it best to offer moral support when asked and otherwise just shut the hell up.
Yes: I am a diet and fitness expert. If there's a book or a plan out there I've read it, tried and and, in most instances, failed it.
No: I have not lost the weight yet.
Your turn now.

aw, i quite enjoyed Voyager for the first few seasons. then i just kinda tolerated it because i was a "fan"... then i just stopped watching altogether. on the other hand, i could never quite manage to get into DS9.
everyone knows TNG was the best anyway! ;~)
methinks i might give this one a shot... the yes and no thing, that is.
