The getting into gear of the arse: Part II
Now that my arse is in gear I'm up to the next stage of my folio site redesign by getting one idea up to mock-up stage. I know that initially I was going to work on several designs by today, probably only to thumbnail state, but as I worked I realised a) I only had one idea that really jumped out at me, and b) if I kept working to find a design I absolutely loved I'd never be satisfied. So I've picked a design that I like for now and have mocked up several pages. In a few months I'll probably hate it and want to rework the entire thing, but that's guaranteed to happen no matter how long I work on the ideation stage, so I'm happy enough to settle for this one for now.
I'm far too lazy to ever be a perfectionist.
So here's the design as it stands currently. Naturally all feedback is welcome. I'm going for very bright colours a la the whole Web 2.0 thing at the moment, but if anyone thinks it'll look better in a different colour scheme feel free to speak out. (The website isn't going to be called 'name goes here' either. I've just decided to keep a certain level of anonymity and leave my name off the mock-ups.)
What does everyone else think?
Comments
re news vs blog, why not call it blog and then create another page later for if you feel the need for a separate section on news or tutorials or whatever?
Thanks for your input!
I'm liking it - it depends on who the site is for... did you say? Too lazy to go back and look but yes, if it is to display design work or anything artistic, something a bit more subtle might be better... but then, my new site will be pink (like my blog banner) so I can't really talk!

Thanks for your feedback, everyone! I shall post new iterations of the design by next week.
